Different Level of Expertise in Photography
- Beginner: These are basically freelancers, or people who take photos as a hobby. It might not be a full time job for them, and their photo and editing skills are not as strong as full timers or professionals. However, this does not mean they can’t capture good moments, their editing skills may not affect much if you allow them capture most of the beautiful moments in the event. They charge from ₦15,000 – ₦25,000 per hour.
- Amateur: They have no professional photography education, but take very decent pictures and have a portfolio. These are people that have little editing skill as well, but more experience. Similarly, they won’t make a mistake because they are already used to the kind of pictures they take. It will cost ₦19,000 – ₦50,000 per hour to hire an amateur photographer.
- Student: They are usually undergoing education or apprenticeship under a professional in photography. They have a very decent editing skill and also a good experience but time and distance is always the issue as they already have a boss. They usually charge ₦50,000 – ₦80,000 per hour.
- Semi-pro: They are part time photographers with a very high level of skill. These are people that have very good editing skills, major experiences with big events but they are not fulltime photographers. They can charge ₦65,000 – ₦120,000 per hour for a photography session.
- Professional: They are the highest level. They are more experienced and hiring them costs more than others. They are pros in the business, and are also considered celebrity photographers. For example, TY Bello and Kelechi Amadiobi here in Nigeria. They are more expensive and charge ₦200,000 – ₦1,000,000.
